Frasers Property Industrial, Komatsu Australia, Wyndham City Council and Texco Construction celebrated the start of construction this week on Komatsu’s 12,523 sqm custom-built fulfillment centre at Canvas West in Melbourne’s west.
Multinational heavy equipment manufacturer Komatsu has committed to a 10-year lease for their facility in Tarneit, which includes a 12,016 sqm warehouse and a 510 sqm office.
The celebration of this significant milestone included a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony performed by Jungala Ellis and Eric Edwards from the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation, with Councillor Marcel Mahfoud from Wyndam City Council also in attendance.
“Our new fulfillment centre in Canvas West will be built and filled with a skilled and diverse workforce, along with state-of-the-art technologies to delight our construction and utility customers,” said Russell Hodson, Executive General Manager – Supply Chain of Komatsu Australia. “We have made the investment in this facility because we see significant growth in this region, and we look forward to working with Frasers Property Industrial.”
The adjoining 12,526 sqm speculative development also shared this milestone, which is currently available for lease. Construction on both facilities is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2024.
Thank you to all who attended the event and to Savills Australia & New Zealand's Scott Nienhuis, Laagan Whalan and Jeremy Cooper for brokering the deal.
